Permission marketing policy
Responsys provides email and cross-channel marketing solutions. Our clients use our solutions to send personalized communications to their prospects and customers. In addition to requiring that our clients comply with all applicable laws (including CAN-SPAM) in their sending of commercial communications, we require that our clients agree to send commercial communications only to recipients who have affirmatively consented to receiving such communications. For example our clients agree not to use recipient lists generated through “email appending” (i.e., appending email addresses to a database based on names and mailing addresses of intended recipients), unless those recipients have subsequently affirmatively consented to receiving communications from the client sending them.
Responsys will investigate any complaint that a Responsys client is sending unsolicited commercial messages. Where the recipient’s permission was obtained online, Responsys may require its client to provide Responsys with the recipient’s opt-in information, including:
- the date and time the recipient opted in
- the IP address of the machine from which the recipient opted in
If permission was obtained offline, for example by postal mail or phone, Responsys may require its client to provide the written enrollment form or phone script that was used to obtain such permission.
Reports of a client sending unsolicited commercial messages may result in the suspension or termination of the client's ability to use the Responsys solution.
How can you stop a company from sending you more email?
Every Responsys client using our solution to send commercial email must include in each message (i) clear instructions on how the recipient can unsubscribe from receiving future messages, and (ii) its physical address. If you follow the unsubscribe instructions in the email, Responsys will work with the client to make sure that you stop receiving messages. If you have difficulty unsubscribing or have any other concerns about the communication practices of a Responsys client, please contact
